Your step-by-step guide to mastering Solitude on your first visit
    • As you enter Big Cottonwood Canyon, travel 12 miles to Solitude Mountain Resort, Moonbeam entry. This is our main parking lot for day guests and provides access to the Moonbeam base area, including lift tickets, rentals, food, and rental equipment in Moonbeam Lodge. Lockers, restrooms, and Ski & Ride School can be found in the Ski & Ride School building.

The Village entry is an additional ½ mile and provides access to Solitude Village, The Inn at Solitude, Solitude Mountain Spa, condominiums, shopping, and various dining options.
      Parking

Paid parking is in effect in the Moonbeam and Village parking lots, and our fee structure incentivizes carpooling. As you enter the Moonbeam or Village parking lots, attendants are present to provide discount codes to vehicles with more than one occupant. Park your vehicle, then proceed to pay at either a payment kiosk or via the payment website - which can be accessed by scanning the QR code on the kiosks or on your discount code slip.

If paying via a kiosk, remember to make note of your license plate number before leaving your vehicle. Kiosks are placed throughout the parking lot and can accept a discount code.

    • As you enter Big Cottonwood Canyon, travel 14 miles to our Nordic & Snowshoe Center (1.5 miles past the Village entry). Complimentary parking is available at the Nordic & Snowshoe Center.

A complimentary shuttle from Solitude Village to the Nordic & Snowshoe Center is also available. This shuttle departs from the shuttle stop adjacent to Lodging & Village Parking at 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. each day during our winter operating dates.
    • As you enter Big Cottonwood Canyon, travel 12.5 miles to Solitude Mountain Resort, Village entry. This is the Lodging & Village parking lot, which is most frequently used by Solitude lodging guests but is open to day guests as well. Parking fees are available on our Getting Here page. Solitude lodging guests enjoy free parking in this lot.

All lodging guests have easy access to Solitude Village, which includes tickets, rentals, spa, retail, dining, and Club Solitude.

The shuttle stop adjacent to the Lodging & Village parking lot provides service to our Nordic & Snowshoe Center at 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. each day during our winter operating dates.
    • With Stone Haus Pizzeria, Honeycomb Grill, St. Bernard’s, and The Thirsty Squirrel, a visit to Solitude Village is a must. During the winter season, a shuttle operates between the two base areas. The Moonbeam shuttle stop is located directly outside the ticket office. The Solitude Village shuttle stop is located to the right of The Inn at Solitude, and near the base of Apex Express.

If you’re on skis or a snowboard, you can also load Link lift (to your left when looking uphill from Moonbeam Lodge). From there you can easily glide past Last Change Lodge, past Apex Express, over the bridge, and into Solitude Village.

To return, jump on the shuttle, enjoy a short push/skate/walk until you merge into Easy Street, or load Apex Express.
    • Have a lesson booked? If so, proceed up the stairs between the two buildings, then turn left until you reach the Ski & Ride School check-in.

Need to book a lesson? Check out our Ski & Ride School page and make a reservation in advance. Or visit Ski & Ride School check-in and we’ll work to fit you in— same day.
    • If you need rental equipment, you'll want to visit the Moonbeam rental shop - located on the ground floor of Moonbeam Lodge.

Our rental shop offers a range of Rossignol equipment to outfit skiers and snowboarders of all ability levels. Save time and make your visit easier by reserving your rentals in advance.
    • The ticket office is located on the ground floor of Moonbeam Lodge.

When you purchase a lift ticket, you’ll be issued a product at the ticket office that looks like a card. This RFID card can be placed in any left or right-facing exterior pocket and will advance the turnstiles at each chairlift. To ensure the card can be read quickly and accurately, make sure nothing else is in that same pocket.

Pro tip: For the best deal on lift tickets, purchase in advance. And when you arrive, use the self-service pick-up boxes (to the left of the ticket windows) for quick and easy access to the lifts.

    • Big Cottonwood Canyon is a protected watershed area that supplies potable water to the Salt Lake area. As such, dogs and pets are not allowed in Big Cottonwood Canyon, inside property lodges, or in vehicles during your visit, except by special permit. More information is available here.
