The Solitude race team is a comprehensive race training program led by highly skilled professional coaches — certified under U.S. Ski & Snowboard and PSIA — and dedicated to fostering well-rounded athletes. Race team staff emphasize skill development and gate training to enhance the fundamentals and skills of high-performance skiing, while helping athletes understand and display sportsmanship, teamwork, and mountain etiquette. Teams are organized in age-based groups ranging from U8 to U16 and will participate in races from Youth Ski League up to U16 Championships. The U.S. Ski & Snowboard Alpine Training System and SkillsQuest are key parts of our coaching regimen.

Participants compete in U.S. Ski & Snowboard competitions in the region. Competitive participants are required to provide their own travel to competitions. On competition days, Solitude coaches meet athletes and parents at competition locations. A U.S. Ski & Snowboard membership is required for competition; there is an expectation that athletes in these groups will be skiing competitively.

Training begins Thanksgiving weekend and ends in April for our full-time athletes (more than one-day commitment). Training begins on the first weekend of December for our part-time athletes (one-day commitment). Evening training with the Big Cottonwood Team and Friday training are additional commitments.
Solitude race team and Brighton ski team train together at Brighton Resort and Utah Olympic Park (UOP) on scheduled evenings twice a week to enhance training. This offering runs from January into March. This partnership provides a unique opportunity to experience a variety of terrain and to train with a wider network of athletes.
Friday full-day training is available between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Friday afternoon training is available between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Private race coaching is available upon request; please call for pricing and availability.
