Team Solitude rides into summer! In this season-long downhill/freeride MTB program, riders ages 8 to 16 improve skills and learn to compete – while having lots of fun! With its wide range of trails and features, Solitude Bike Park provides the perfect training ground for your young mountain bike athlete. Coaches cultivate sportsmanship, teamwork, and etiquette.

This program supports newer riders learning to compete as well as experienced athletes seeking elite-level training. Team members compete in two Enduro races over the course of the season.

Training takes place Tuesdays and Thursdays with half day and full day options available. Choose days and hours to best fit your child’s schedule and level of commitment.

Parking is free in the Moonbeam base area.

Pass Requirements All Participants must purchase a Wasatch Gravity Pass.
Age Requirements For ages 8-16. Must be at least 8 years old as of June 1, 2026.
Skill Prerequisite
  • Riders should be capable of riding for up to three hours and 10 miles with regular breaks.
  • Riders must be able to ride out of saddle (standing) on basic green flow trails.
Equipment Requirements
  • Athletes must have full face helmets, full finger gloves, and flat pedals for all lift-served riding. Knee and elbow pads are heavily encouraged. Chest/back protectors are also encouraged.
  • Athletes should have a proper fitting trail, enduro, or downhill bike. Full suspension is preferred but not required. Bikes must have disc brakes and suspension.
  • Athletes must bring a backpack, hip bag, or other means to carry the following items: water, snacks, spare tube, patch kit, hand pump or CO2, zip ties, tire levers, bike tool, small bottle of chain lube.
  • Equipment should be tuned regularly. Bikes must have disc brakes and suspension. We recommend having gear checked by a certified technician at the start of the season.
  • You must wear a helmet when biking at Solitude. 
Schedule
  • Summer training begins June 2, 2026, and runs through August 13, 2026. Practices are held regardless of weather, road conditions, or holidays (unless the bike park is closed).
  • Training will take place at Solitude, with 4 planned Deer Valley days TBD.
Training Participation
  • Recommended training — 2 days per week.
  • Make up days are not offered for any missed training.
Competition Details
  • Athletes compete in two Mid Week MTB Race Series Enduro events:
    • June 24, Deer Valley
    • August 5, Solitude
  • Athletes are required to provide their own travel to competitions.
  • Some competitions will require additional fees, which will be billed separately.
Training Plan
  • 70-90% coached/directed riding.
  • 10-30% coached drills and mock competition.
Pick up/Drop Off Drop off and pick up in front of the Moonbeam Lodge/Ski school building. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to program start time.
Preparedness
  • Bring appropriate attire for variable weather.
  • Keep small, healthy snacks in pocket or in backpack at base.
  • Arrive properly fueled and hydrated.
  • Arrive with a positive attitude and ready to ride in all weather conditions.
Lunch
  • Lunch not included. Athletes attending full day training should bring a packed lunch or a credit/debit card. Solitude Resort is cash free.
  • Parents are advised to pack extra snacks to keep athletes energized throughout the day.
  • Please contact us if you have specific questions or concerns.
Parent Requirements
  • Attend parent orientation. Time TBA. Meeting will be held digitally.
  • Be available by phone.
  • Complete team agreement (code of conduct).
  • Remain actively engaged with the team communication platform and check schedules and updates frequently.
  • Actively communicate the needs of athletes, including planned absences, illness, and injuries.
Travel Limited travel to Deer Valley is required.
Communication Parents are required to maintain an active account with our chosen communication platform, Team Snap. Instructions and invites will be sent to parent(s) after registration and tuition payment.

Training Schedule
Mountain Bike athletes train 1-2 days per week based on the number of days chosen. Training takes place at Solitude, with four planned Deer Valley days TBD.
